What is Call Break?
Call Break is a strategy and skill-based multiplayer card game played largely across India and Nepal. Played over five rounds with four players using a standard 52-card deck.

My team and I built the 0-to-1 F2P version for the Google Play Store showcasing different game modes and lobbies, refining the gameplay experience for a larger casual gaming user base. Our goal was the conversion of the causal player base to a real money gaming platform. We integrated a wallet connecting to the MPL Pro app, optimized UX for short and fun gaming sessions, and enhanced user engagement through strategic design improvements.

Primary Responsibilities
0-to-1 Free to Play Product –  My team and I built the 0-to-1 F2P version for the Google Play Store, showcasing different game modes and lobbies and optimized UX for short and fun gaming sessions.

User Engagemet – Enhanced user engagement through progression mechanics such as lives. Lives would naturally phase out and seamlessly transition users into the standard economy where strategic decision-making and real-money stakes were the primary drivers to progress.

User Coversion – We designed a smart upsell system that felt natural and ensured that these offers appeared at the right moment—once a player had crossed a certain skill or engagement threshold. Through A/B testing "Passive" and "Active" upsell, we fine-tuned these moments, making sure they felt like exciting opportunities rather than interruptions, keeping players engaged and eager to progress.
Call Break — Free to Play
MPL Call Break Free to Play was born from some key learnings from the MPL Ludo Win product, furthermore refining the balance between engagement and monetization. This again was a gateway to the MPL Pro app, as it introduced players to various skill-based formats, currency mechanics, and strategic gameplay.

Call Break — Lives
I spearheaded a feature called 'Lives', a progression-based retention mechanic within the First-Time User Experience (FTUE). This encouraged players to understand Call Break's core mechanics and explore different formats without immediate monetary risk. By integrating lives as a regenerative resource, players were rewarded for continued gameplay, reinforcing engagement loops & reducing early churn.
Lives Flow
Call Break — Upsell
Once the initial games were exhausted, an upsell flow nudged players toward higher-reward formats, transitioning them into the Pro experience & ensuring that casual players evolved into competitive ones—boosting both user experience & revenue.
The Easy Way
We didn't move ahead with the Pop-Up solution as a Pop-Up inside a Pop-Up did not make sense.

Tickets Credit Flow - For the first 5 Games
For the first 5 games, players would get free tickets worth the entry fee credited to their wallet. This would let them play uninterrupted & without any monetary risk in both Loss & Win scenarios.

Challenges
1. Leveraging Learnings from MPL Ludo Win
MPL Call Break’s F2P model was a direct evolution of MPL Ludo Win, but adapting those learnings to a strategy-based card game meant rethinking how players engage with competitive formats, build skill progression, and transition to RMG.

2. Engagement & Retention Beyond the First 5 Games
The challenge was designing an onboarding flow where users could learn through play rather than through heavy-handed tutorials. Teaching players about soft currency and formats without disrupting gameplay with text-heavy tutorials or intrusive pop-ups, which led to early user churn

3. Seamless Upsell Without Disrupting Gameplay
Encouraging players to transition to higher-stakes games required a subtle upsell strategy. We had to ensure that passive and active upsell nudges felt like natural progressions, not intrusive or pushy.
